Switchable film sits between three trades. Projects go smoothly when the split of scope is agreed in writing before the film is fabricated. This page is the version we hand to site teams.
Scope split
- Film installer (us)
- Measurement, panel schedule, fabrication, dry-apply installation, edge sealing, commissioning
- Licensed electrician
- Power to transformer locations, low-voltage terminations, control device wiring, permits for the connection
- Glazier
- Glass condition, hardware or gasket adjustments, replacement glass if required
- General contractor
- Access, sequencing, wire concealment in finished construction, protection
Sequence that works
- Glass installed and final before measurement
- Measurement and panel schedule issued to the electrical contractor
- Rough-in and transformer locations completed during the 12–20 working day fabrication window
- Film installed dry on clean, protected glass
- Licensed electrician terminates and energises
- Joint commissioning: every panel switched and tested
Site requirements on installation day
Clean, dry, dust-controlled conditions at the glass; no active grinding, drywall sanding or spray finishing in the room; stable temperature; and clear access to both faces of the pane where possible. The film is dry-applied, so airborne particulate is the main risk to a perfect result.
